During this process, the forceps can be held by one hand to elevate the tag over the suture and uncover the loop. The surgeon then uses his/her other hand to cut the suture with scissors. The jaws are smooth, straight, and numbered for identification, and the 3 ¾" overall length makes it easier to maneuver.
